How To Get A Browser Without A Browser in the First Place in Windows 7 E
We all know that customers in Europe won’t have a single browser included in Windows 7 E edition. Unless Microsoft fixes this in its final release, people in Europe need to figure out how to get a browser installed in Windows 7 E without having a built-in browser in the first place. So they need to plan ahead.
Best way,
Download at least one browser from Internet and save it on the external USB flash drive or burn it on CD prior heading over to install windows 7 on the computer.
Clever way,
However, if you already start the installation process without having at least one browser saved elsewhere, you can still follow this 3-steps and get one from Windows 7 Media player inside the operation system. Here are the basic steps:
Step 1 – Launch (and configure) Windows Media Player
Step 2 – Search for your browser, using the Windows Media Guide
Step 3 – Click an ad, download your browser
Credit goes to here, nice tip that uses built-in engine in Windows Media Player.
Stupid way,
Order a CD with IE on it when purchase Windows 7 E. Microsoft is selling IE installation CD for about $5US, and Mozilla also sells Firefox on a CD for about $4.20. You will be much appreciated by either of company if you do so in a way support them.
And of course, the ultimate way of this is having Microsoft to fix it by adding the IE option in the action center or a place where customers can easily turn it on.

I believe there will also be N editions sold also in Europe, which have neither Media Player, nor Internet Explorer. True, the smartest way is to save a browser to a flash drive ahead of time, so you can install it once you have upgraded. However, I imagine that Internet Explorer 8 will be available through Windows Update (since it was available to prior OS users the same way), so you could likely choose to get it that way as well. I’m sure the final word on this will be available over on the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 , or announced over on TechNet at the Springboard site for Windows 7, located here: http://tinyurl.com/832nco
thats what people get for complaining how terrible IE is… now without it, youll still see them complaining…
Has anyone tested that Windows Media Player’s Media guide will work if there’s no IE or any browser is not installed?
It’s a proved step that will work.
However, since there will be no E edition at all for Europe, you probably don’t need to worry about getting an OS without any browser preloaded. You will get the choices which browser you want to load.
Windows Key + R to get the run prompt…
“ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/” to get Mozilla's FTP server…
Browse to the current FireFox release…
Download…
Install…
Done!
No games with Windows Media Player or anything.
Not sure how exactly test it as there is no more E edition. However, type “ftp://ftp.mozilla.org” from win+R opens the default browser first. Hmm…what's going to happen if there is no browser?
Cheers.
