AVG 9 Free Edition is a great free Anti-Virus and Anti Spyware for your Windows 7. The only thing I don’t like with AVG is that it will prompt you a lot false positive alerts when you are installing programs, especially programs you get from illegal ways (you know what I’m talking about here). To a point even AVG admit to turn it off is sometimes recommended. They said the following in one of their FAQ

Disabling of the Resident Shield is sometimes recommended before installation of a new software or drivers, since it can prevent conflicts that would otherwise occur during their installation. This however applies only to limited number of specific programs and drivers, and there is no general reason why AVG Resident Shield should interfere with an installation of any application.

So How To Disable AVG on Windows 7 ?

First, go open the AVG User Interface

resident_shield

Click the icon “Resident Shield”

uncheck_resident_shield_active

Uncheck the Resident Shield active

save_changes

Click “Save Changes”

Once you done that you will soon see the “Resident Shield is disabled”

disable_AVG

Now you can proceed the install without ever have to worry about any warning pop up and break you installation.
